Cordozar Calvin Broadus, Jr, professionally known as Snoop Dogg, is an iconic figure in the world of hip-hop.

From putting funk in West Coast gangster rap to being the face of Marijuana, there aren't many who haven't heard his name.

His ventures as a rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur, media personality, and actor have made him one of the most recognizable names in showbiz.

Snoop Dogg’s Early Life

The rapper was born on October 20, 1971, in Long Beach, California. He was born to a Vietnam War veteran father, Vernall Varnado, and mother, Beverly Broadus.

Three months after Snoop Dogg was born, Varnado left the family. As a result, Beverly married Calvin Cordozar Broadus Sr. The rapper was named after his stepfather.

Snoop Dogg was interested in music from a young age. He used to sing and play piano at the Golgotha Trinity Baptist Church.

He eventually began rapping in school. He started when he was in sixth grade and used to entertain his schoolmates.

This gave traction to Snoop Dogg’s career as a rapper.

Snoop Dogg's Career

His solo tapes of freestyle made their rounds around the area. They eventually fell into the hands of Dr. Dre.

Dr. Dre, too, had been gaining momentum for himself at the time. He then called Snoop Dogg for an audition.

Thus, the rapper officially started his professional career in 1992. Previously he used to go by the names of Snoop Doggy Dogg and Snoop Lion before finally settling down for Snoop Dogg.

The rapper has released 18 studio albums, 16 compilation albums, five collaborative albums, 25 mixtapes, and three extended plays.

Similarly, he has released 63 singles and 16 promotional singles. In addition, he has also released 112 songs as a featured artist.

Snoop Dogg and Shante Broadus’s Love Story

High school sweethearts Snoop Dogg and Shante Broadus have been together for over two decades.

Shante was with the rapper before he became an icon in pop culture. The duo has faced a lot of difficulties in their relationship. Regardless, they have stuck by each other’s side.

The pair got married on June 12, 1997, and share three kids. However, after almost eight years of marriage, the rapper filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason.

Later, Snoop Dogg regretted asking for a divorce and blamed the music industry for leading him to make that decision. He claimed he was blinded by the fame that came with being a hip-hop icon.

Filled with guilt, Snoop Dogg tore the divorce papers and vowed he would never ask for one again. Then, he realized he made a mistake and did everything to get the love of his life back.

Snoop Dogg has cheated on Shante a couple of times. Because of this, their marriage has never been the same.

The rapper shares a son with Laurie Helmond outside wedlock. Similarly, in 2018, another cheating rumor had surfaced.

Celina Powell, an Instagram model, accused the rapper of cheating on his wife with her. However, Snoop Dogg and Shante stayed strong and made fun of the situation.

Shante also stayed by the rapper during his ‘pimping phase.’ In 2013, Snoop Dogg admitted he used to provide celebrities and athletes with women for entertainment.

However, he never used to take money for procuring. He just did it for the sheer fun of it. So Shante let him do his thing and waited for him regardless of all the scandals.

Shante knows that being in a long-term relationship has its ups and downs. On April 18, 2019, she took to Instagram to let her followers know such relationships come with forgiveness and understanding.

The high school sweethearts love has stayed strong after all the rumors and scandals surrounding them. On Jan. 12, 2008, after a decade of their marriage, the couple renewed their vows.

The ceremony was conducted in Charlie Wilson's 20-acre ranch as a surprise for Shante. The love birds confessed their love for each other and renewed their vows in front of 200 guests.

Snoop Dogg’s Children

The rapper has four kids — three with his wife Shante and one with his mistress Helmond. Here is everything you need to know about his children.

Corde Broadus

Corde is the oldest son of the rapper. He was born on August 21, 1994, right when his father’s career was on the rise.

Snoop Dogg wanted his eldest son to be a football player, but Corde showed interest in music. So, being a supportive father, the rapper took Corde to his studios.

Corde appeared on the music video of ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot,’ when he was just ten. He also appeared on his father’s reality TV series Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood.

Corde later made his acting debut in 2012 with the comedy movie We the Party. However, this has been his first and last film as he has not acted in another project since then.

Apart from his pursuits, he is a family man with three kids — Zion, Elleven, and Sky Love. He shares Zion with his ex-girlfriend Jessica Kyzer, who is a model and a makeup artist.

The pair got married in 2014 and gave birth to Zion on January 15, 2015. They separated shortly after.

After Kyzer, Corde was in a relationship with Soraya Love, a spiritual guru, YouTuber, and fashion stylist. They welcomed their first child, Elleven, in August 2018.

The pair gave birth to their second son, Kai Love, on September 15, 2019. Unfortunately, Kai Love died ten days later. Corde shared the news via his Instagram but did not reveal the cause of death.

Corde and Soraya welcomed their third child, Sky Love, on February 21, 2021.

Cordell Broadus

Cordell is the second son of Snoop Dogg and Shante. He was born on February 21, 1997.

Cordell fulfilled his father’s dream of having a son that played football. He was quite good at it and received remarkable feats in his football career from a young age.

The father-son duo has starred in an ESPN docuseries called Snoop & Son. It revolved around Cordell’s recruitment process.

The athlete was approached by various colleges and teams. At last, he chose the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Cordell eventually left the sport. He revealed he was no longer interested in football. He also confessed that he played football to make Snoop Dogg happy.

Cordell took filmmaking after football. He is also a model, fashion designer, and entrepreneur.

Cordell debuted his clothing line in the 2017 MADE LA fashion show. He co-designed the line with Tom Hirota, founder of streetwear brand Joyrich, for a Snoop x Joyrich collaboration.

He revealed the collection was inspired by his father’s fashion style. In addition, Snoop Dogg was paid by his son to perform for the show.

Cordell scored his first major modeling campaign for MCM Worldwide in 2018 for their Spring/Summer collection.

He has also worked for various designers like Dolce & Gabbana, Todd Snyder, Tommy Hilfiger, and Kenneth Cole.

Cordell is in a relationship with Phia Barragan. It is not entirely clear if Barragan is his girlfriend or his wife. However, she uses the last name Broadus on her social media.

They welcomed their first daughter, Cordoba Journey, in 2019. Recently, Barragan gave birth to their second baby, Chateau Broadus, on March 2021.

Before Barragan, Cordell was in a relationship with Marrissa Hopkins, with whom he shares an older son named Champion.

Cori Broadus

Cori is the youngest child of Snoop Dogg, born on June 22, 1999. She has been battling health issues for a long time.

Cori was diagnosed with lupus when she was just 6. The autoimmune disease led to her being overweight, which affected both her mental and physical health.

In addition, growing up with a dark complexion among two light-skinned brothers further affected her self-esteem.

On May 16, 2021, Cori shared her struggle with mental health with her fans. With a series of photos with her boyfriend Wayne, she confessed that she had attempted suicide at one point in her life.

Cori revealed that her mental health had been deteriorating so much that she tried to end her life. But her boyfriend and her family gave her a purpose to live.

Cori further elaborated about her mental health in an Instagram live. She revealed just because her father was famous doesn't mean things were easy for her.

She admitted she has always been sad and depressed because of her health. Cori further shared the details of the night she tried to end her life.

She ended up being hospitalized. However, she is thankful to her aunt for saving her life.

Despite everything, Cori is one of the reasons her parents didn’t go through the divorce. Instead, the pair stayed together to help their daughter fight her illness.

Julian Corrie Broadus

Born in 1998, Julian is the son of Laurie Helmond, Snoop Dogg’s former high school girlfriend.

The rapper had an affair with Helmond when he was still married to Shante. The affair led to Helmond getting pregnant with Julian.

The rapper didn't accept his son until they did a paternity test that proved Julian was Snoop Dogg’s son. Then, the rapper accepted his child and took responsibility.

Julian led a very private life till 2008 when news started circulating about him being the rapper’s son.

Growing up, his mother entirely took care of him. So Julian didn't have a father figure growing up. He only came to find out about Snoop Dogg when he was nine.

The situation was not ideal for both him and his father. The two have had an estranged relationship.

Like any child, Julian also wanted love from his dad. He admitted it was difficult for him without his father’s guidance.

It hurt him that Snoop Dogg didn’t want to be associated with him. However, he revealed he was now mature enough not to dwell on it.

Julian is a student at UCLA. Like his father, he is also passionate about music. He has been trying to make a name for himself in the music industry, leaning more towards R&B and Pop.

According to his Instagram bio, he is also working as a real estate agent in Long Beach.
